Nurses and LPNs

These professions are fraught with hazard. Because nurses have to deal with difficult patients, detailed medical instructions, demanding hours and tricky supervisors, there is always a way to find something wrong the nurse did not do or should have done. There is always a way that a medical facility can allege some kind of negligence or some kind of derogation of duty. Often these allegations are bogus. A medical facility often scrutinizes nurses who have done their job extrem well for many years but who now finds herself in the crosshairs because her seniority and expertise results in higher pay. This makes her a target because the hospital can pay her younger nurse half as much to do more or less the same job. In other words, the medical facility is incentivized to find improper conduct because it will save money if the older nurses fired. Older nurses need to be very careful about how they do their job. They need to document and ensure that nothing can be held against them. Although age discrimination is rarer with LPNs, LPNs are most often in a position of witnessing poor medical care, poor staffing and long hours. When they complain, the employer just wants to replace them. Contact us if you are a one of these victims.
